Gatherings & Retreats
A few times a year, in small numbers — half a day to several days, for people standing at their own thresholds.
A room where nobody is asked to be finished
There is something particular about being in a threshold alongside other people who are also in one. Not a support group, and not a workshop with outcomes. Just the ordinary relief of being among people who are not waiting for you to be through it.
A gathering usually has three parts: time outdoors, time alone, and time in a circle. The proportions change with the length. There is no curriculum to get through and no sharing anyone is required to do. Numbers are kept small enough that everyone can be actually known by the end.
- Small groups — usually eight to twelve people
- No prior experience of this work needed
- Nothing you're obliged to say out loud
- Ask about a sliding scale if cost is the obstacle
What's open
Gatherings are announced a couple of months ahead and tend to fill from the mailing list before they get much further.
Or ask about a gathering of your own
Teams, congregations, boards and families sometimes want a gathering designed with them rather than a place at a public one. That is relational emergence work, and it starts the same way — with a conversation.
